Greenham Common is on the outskirts of Newbury and Thatcham, with easy access to the M3 and M4 via the A34 and A339. It’s easily accessible from Andover, Basingstoke, Hungerford and Abingdon.
Steeped in history this site is a natural open heath with mix of beautiful heathers giving stunning scenery. We are away from the main road, so it’s perfect to get the dogs of the lead to create stunning photographs of dogs at play.
We’ll find a mix of grasslands filled with natural wildflowers, bare gravel areas from the commons’ formation, right through to mixes of gorse, and pink and purple heathers.
If you are lucky, we could capture a glimse of the grazing exmoor ponies and cattle.
Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust is the charity responsible for the upkeep of the common on behalf of the local council.
The Common is an area of heathland in Berkshire close to Newbury, Thatcham, and Basingstoke.
The land is open-access Ministry of Defence Land. Cyclists, dog walkers, ramblers and other’s utilise this beautiful area of meadows, woodland and heathland.
There are three car parks at Greenham – Crookham and Pyle Hill have 24 hour access, with Greenham Common Control Tower opening at 8am with seasonal closing times.

There are Cafe and Toilet Facilities at the Control Tower Car Park. Other car parks have no toilet facilities.
The main routes around the common are level and easily accessible for those with limited mobility.

5. We will enjoy a relaxed and fun dog walk at a pace that suits your dog. Ensure you wear some sturdy shoes or boots, depending on how far we walk and the weather, we could be out for upto 2 hours.
6. We will start with some traditional sat portraits, then play some games, chase a ball or frisbee, then as we come toward the end of the session we’ll finish with a few more of those signature portraits.
7. You will be invited back to the Studio in Eversley, normally within 2 weeks of your session to view your images, see samples of our handmade products and place your order.
