What’s great about Mytchett Woods?

On the outskirts of Camberley and Farnborough, Mytchett Ranges gives us the perfect opportunity to get outdoors and off the beaten track for your dog photography session.

With a number of different walks through the Forest and Heathland – every photoshoot is different. From leafy autumn walks to summer among the heather.

Pack some sturdy footwear as there’s a great mix of terrain during our walk. There are some stunning views and great history to this area.

Where is Mytchett Woods?

Mytchett Ranges or Mytchett Woods are an area of woodland between Frimley Green and Mytchett, close to Camberley, Farnborough and Guildford.

The land is open-access Ministry of Defence Land, and Army dry training often takes place here. Cyclists, dog walkers, ramblers and other’s utilise this beautiful area of woodland and heathland.

Occasionally gun-fire may be heard. We would not recommend this venue for nervous dogs.

We access Mytchett Woods from the Old Guildford Road towards Frimley Green.

What facilities are at Mytchett Woods?

Car parking is provided along the Old Guildford Road. We meet at the end of the track adjacent to the new housing.

There are no cafe or toilet facilities located at this venue.

There are Cafe, Toilet and Playground Facilities at both Basingstoke Canal Centre and Frimley Lodge Park.

What to expect..

After you’ve selected your gift experience or session, we will be in touch to get some information about your dog, your home and the style of pictures you would love on the walls.
You will then receive an information pack to help you get the best from the session. If your dog is a breed that needs grooming, it’s best to do this a few days in advance and give the coat time to settle with just a tidy or brush the day of the shoot.
On the day, we’ll meet at the car park. You will want to bring your dogs favourite toy, or special treats, we will also have a bag of goodies to keep them motivated.

5. We will enjoy a relaxed and fun dog walk at a pace that suits your dog. Ensure you wear some sturdy shoes or boots, depending on how far we walk and the weather, we could be out for upto 2 hours.

6. We will start with some traditional sat portraits, then play some games, chase a ball or frisbee, then as we come toward the end of the session we’ll finish with a few more of those signature portraits.

7. You will be invited back to the Studio, normally within 2 weeks of your session to view your images, see samples of our handmade products and place your order.

Facts about Mytchett Ranges

Local folklore has it that the Old Guildford Road is Haunted. Legend has it that the ghost of Old Charlie Miles and his spectral hounds frequent the Old Guildford Road under moonlight as they take their nightly walk towards the common. During the Second World War, Mytchett Place, at the southern edge of the Mytchett Ranges, was used as a prisoner of war camp, Camp Z. A German Politician and leading member of the Nazi party, Rudolf Hess, was held here. Hess, was appointed second in command to Adolf Hitler, and fled to the Scotland to negotiate peace with the United Kingdom. You can find out more in this book.
